About HoRA

HoRA (Homological Reading Activities) is a weekly informal seminar devoted to homological algebra, representation theory and related areas.

Participants are encouraged to present things they have recently found interesting — a new paper, a proof, a small result, a technique, or a mathematical question they would like to discuss.

The Lyndon–Hochschild–Serre Spectral Sequence and the Homology of the Dihedral Group

In this talk, we will introduce the Lyndon–Hochschild–Serre spectral sequence associated with a group extension and use it to compute the homology of the dihedral group. We will focus on the main ideas behind the construction and on how the spectral sequence organizes the calculation.

Singular Derived Categories and Finite Global Dimension

In this talk, we will introduce singular derived categories and discuss their relation to the homological properties of an algebra. In particular, we will see how the vanishing of the singularity category characterizes algebras of finite global dimension.
